I found a strange object by the side of the road — at first, I was scared, but it turned out to be much simpler.
I was walking along a country road when I noticed a weird object on the roadside. It was grayish, somewhat flattened, with an unusual texture. Curiosity got the better of me — I gently poked it with a stick to take a closer look.

Inside, there were many thin layers that looked organic. The texture was dense and elastic. I had a moment of panic: was this something serious?
I took a photo and posted it online with the question: “What could this be? Should I report it?”
Comments came in quickly. Some thought it was a mushroom. Others mentioned plant fragments or some kind of organic matter. But a woman, who seemed experienced with animals, calmly explained everything:

It was actually the remains left by a dog, which had probably eaten some paper towels. This happens sometimes and is not dangerous at all.
When I learned the truth, I felt a bit embarrassed… then burst out laughing — sometimes, what seems mysterious has a very simple and harmless explanation.
