When she mentioned the dress during dinner, I nearly choked on my water.
I barely managed not to speak harshly, and went home irritated. I kept thinking about all the memories — how she used to spend her last penny on her grandchildren, how she denied herself things to buy us gifts. And now, this dress?

I was stunned. And embarrassed. And deeply moved.
