You won’t believe what’s hidden beneath the surface: a tour of the $2.25 million underground house in Buffalo

LIFE STORIES

In Buffalo there is a house so perfectly concealed that you would never guess it exists—it is entirely built underground!

This unique property was recently listed for sale with an asking price of $2.25 million, according to the real estate agent.

If you think that price is steep, a quick look inside might change your mind.

Obviously the house has no windows, but the agent claims that bright, carefully designed interiors make up for the lack of natural light.

The home features striking design choices, including massive wall murals and vaulted ceilings that create a more spacious, airy atmosphere.

Set on 40 acres, the house offers about 3,000 square feet of living space, including three bedrooms and two bathrooms.

Entry is through a circular door leading into a long corridor covered in murals, designed to resemble a brick‑walled tunnel.

Beyond that, you’ll find a large open area connecting the kitchen, dining room, and living room.

Each room has its own unique style.

For example, one of the bathrooms is decorated with works inspired by famous masterpieces such as Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man and Botticelli’s Birth of Venus.

Built in 1999 by owner Glenn Young, this underground house was designed to ensure total privacy and demonstrate how safe and practical a dome‑shaped dwelling can be.

And judging by the result, Glenn certainly proved his point.
