Look what we made out of an old crib!

LIFE STORIES

One day, we noticed in the garden that someone had thrown away a crib. It had been taken apart: the sides with the slats were here, the base with a plywood sheet there, and the headboard and footboard with rounded edges nearby.

Someone had just left it all next to the trash bins. We looked at each other — what a waste! And then the idea came: what if we made a bench for the yard out of it?

We had all the necessary materials on hand. There were screws in the shed, a neighbor had a drill, and in the garage we found some paint and varnish. All we had to do was put the crib parts together and give them a new purpose.

First, we took the headboard and footboard and stood them up vertically — they became the side supports of the bench. We fixed the crib base in between them as the seat. The slatted sides were used as the backrest.

Once the frame was done, we sanded the wood, painted the bench white, and sealed it with varnish for durability. To make it more comfortable, we added a cushion that a neighbor had given us.

Now our bench stands under a tree in the yard, and everyone loves sitting on it. And we smile whenever we see it — because not long ago, it was just an old crib that has now been given a new life.
