It was the most important day of my life. I married the man I love, and everyone I care about was there with me. My mother’s presence — my only parent who has always supported me — was especially important.
When the music began and it was time to walk to the altar, I looked around to find her eyes. But… she wasn’t there.
🗣 On my wedding day, someone locked my mom in a closet: I was shocked to find out who and why.
I panicked. My relatives and friends and I searched the entire venue, went out into the yard, and checked every corner. But she was nowhere to be found.

As I walked past one of the rooms, I heard muffled noises. It sounded like someone was calling for help. My heart sank.
I threw open the door and listened closely — the sounds were coming from a large wardrobe in the corner. I rushed over and flung it open…
There she was — my mom. Fear and relief were written all over her face.
— Sweetheart! — she sobbed as she stepped out of the dark.
I could hardly comprehend what was happening. Who could have done this?
The answer came too quickly. Standing in the doorway was my future husband’s mother.
— It was you?! — I shouted, barely believing my eyes.

She didn’t look remorseful at all. She crossed her arms and said firmly:
— You shouldn’t have married my son. You’re not right for each other.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. She’d always seemed cold, but I thought she’d accept me eventually. And instead, she did this!
— You ruined my wedding, but you won’t break me, I said, holding my mother’s hand tightly. — I love your son, and he loves me.
I walked out of the room and left her behind.

Despite the shock, the wedding went on. But we no longer have any contact with my husband’s mother. She excluded herself from our lives. And you know what? Life is much easier without her.
Because now, we’re surrounded only by those who truly wish us happiness.
