About one in five couples struggles with difficulties in conceiving at some point in their lives.
For many, this is an incredibly difficult and stressful period, but as others testify, patience and perseverance can bear fruit.
Desiree and Ryan Fortin patiently waited for many years to seek help with artificial insemination. They prayed to God to help them conceive.

Not long after the artificial insemination, they finally found out that Desiree was pregnant. But the couple never could have prepared for what happened next…
Desiree and Ryan Fortin, two college sweethearts, have been happily married since 2009, but one thing was not going well: they struggled for a long time to conceive.
Doctors diagnosed Desiree with PCOS, hypothyroidism, and low progesterone levels. She and her husband tried for three long and painful years before finally turning to artificial insemination.
But instead of getting a positive pregnancy test, Desiree repeatedly got her period. It was mentally exhausting.
“It wasn’t just that I couldn’t get pregnant,” she wrote about the tough years.
“[Infertility] caused more tears than I ever imagined… I lay on my bathroom floor, completely empty, after countless negative pregnancy tests over and over again. I endured the shots, bruises, and all sorts of medication because when you are infertile and seeking fertility treatments, this is what you have to face. [It’s expensive and physically, emotionally, and mentally draining]”

So we can imagine how happy Desiree and Ryan were when they finally found out that their first artificial insemination treatment had worked.
And when they saw the ultrasound, they couldn’t believe their eyes that not one, but three babies were growing in her belly! It turned out they were expecting triplets – this was a success!
But the battle was not over for Desiree and her family.
Although she was finally pregnant, the doctors warned that she would not be able to carry all three babies to term.

“I was too thin, too small, and this was my first pregnancy,” she recalls what they told her. “But the signs of hope showed me they were wrong.”
The Fortin triplets were born in the summer of 2015. Desiree delivered them via cesarean section after 34 weeks and one day.
The couple was overjoyed when they were able to welcome Sawyer, Jack, and Charlize, each weighing more than 2.5 kg.

“I will never forget the day of my delivery. Like everything related to parenthood, there were unexpected twists. After the triplets were born, Ryan went with them to the neonatal intensive care unit, and I was sent to the recovery room,” Desiree told Today.
Desiree had complications and bleeding, which required emergency surgery, so she could not see her precious children immediately.
But Ryan FaceTimed so the new mother could see her little miracles. After two weeks, the three babies were able to leave the NICU and start their lives at home.

Coming home with three babies was a huge blessing for Ryan and Desiree.
“We are blessed, but parenting is also hard work, and it comes with the greatest responsibility: caring for little people. Our babies suffer from reflux and severe colic – three times. It’s hard to establish a routine, as it’s also tough to maintain a relationship with crying babies, sleepless nights, and a new routine,” Desiree said.
Today, the triplets are 7 years old, and the family seems to be doing great.
