However, caring for an anthurium isn’t always as easy as it seems. Many face the issue of the plant not flowering or losing its beauty. To truly thrive and bloom for a long time, a few basic rules must be followed.

Understanding the natural needs of anthurium
Anthurium originates from humid tropical forests, growing as an epiphyte on trees or rocks with well-aerated roots. You should recreate these ideal conditions at home.

Proper watering – Overwatering can be deadly
Many think that the more water a plant gets, the better. That’s a big mistake!
Correct method:
Always wait until the top 2–4 cm of the soil dries out before watering again. The amount and frequency depend on the pot size and environment. Good drainage is essential to avoid root rot.

Remember: Anthurium prefers drier soil over standing water!

Right lighting – No flowers without light
If your anthurium is in a shady place, don’t expect gorgeous flowers. It needs light, especially during flowering.
Best light:
At least 10 hours of natural light per day. East or west-facing windows are ideal. South-facing ones need protection from intense sun. North-facing won’t help it bloom – only leaves will grow.

Choosing the right pot – Bigger isn’t better!
In a too-large pot, the plant focuses on root growth first, delaying flowering. A smaller pot encourages blooming.
Yellowing leaves may indicate root problems due to overwatering.
