An 80-year-old woman from Lennox Head, Australia, became a hero when she saved her puppy from the claws of a Burmese python. Hearing her puppy’s whimpering cries, she rushed outside and discovered the python wrapped around her pet.
Despite three snake bites, she managed to free her puppy. The woman’s daughter shared the incredible story online, calling her mother ‘exceptional’. In a photo, she is seen examining her arm while holding the python by its tail. Australians praised her bravery and perseverance, calling her a ‘legend’ and a ‘warrior’.
Although well-meaning advice urged her to seek medical help for the snake bites, the woman, motivated by her deep love for her puppy, declined hospitalization.
Although wildlife guidelines discourage contact with wild snakes and handling them without permission, Burmese pythons are known for their powerful bites. Experts acknowledged the urgency of the situation and praised the woman’s bravery, noting that her actions were driven by her commitment to saving her beloved pet.
While she technically violated wildlife handling guidelines, a snake expert praised the woman’s determination, emphasizing that her primary priority remained the safety of her beloved puppy.”
