My husband, Tom, goes on a family vacation every year with his family since we’ve been married. It’s been twelve years now that I’ve been left out of all the family trips.

“Why don’t you skip this year and we can go on a vacation with the kids?” I asked while mixing the salad for dinner.

“Why would I do that?” he replied. “The kids are too small, it will be chaos. When they get older, we can start talking about a family vacation with them.”

“And what about me?” I asked. “Are you sure your mom won’t mind?”
